Instacart Just Moved In With ChatGPT — and It Brought the Groceries

Instacart and ChatGPT are officially living together — and it’s surprisingly domestic. Thanks to something called the Agentic Commerce Protocol (basically “AI that shops”), you can now chat about dinner plans and actually buy the ingredients without ever leaving the convo.

No app-switching. No lost carts. Just you, the AI, and a suspiciously smooth checkout powered by Stripe.

Before this, chatbots would recommend recipes… then politely dump you onto a website to fend for yourself. Instacart fixed that. Now the AI fills your cart based on real local store inventory — no more phantom avocados or imaginary sourdough.

As Nick Turley from OpenAI put it: “AI ideas, real-world results.” In other words: Chat, pay, peace out.
