🐦 From Sneakers to Servers: Allbirds Takes Flight into AI

Allbirds, the comfy shoe company that made Silicon Valley’s feet look ethically sourced, just announced it’s trading wool runners for GPUs. The company snagged $50 million in financing to fund its glow-up into — wait for it — an AI compute infrastructure business.

Basically, they’re hanging up their laces and stepping into the cloud. American Exchange Group will take over the shoe biz, while Allbirds plans to rebrand as NewBird AI — because every pivot needs a techy name.

The new flock’s mission? Buy powerful GPUs and rent them out to companies desperate to train their chatbots. So yes, the brand once obsessed with low carbon footprints now aims to leave massive data center ones instead.

If shareholders approve the move, Allbirds could soon go from making cozy kicks to kicking up some serious processing power.

Cadence, Nvidia, and Google: The New Power Trio of Tech Chaos

Cadence just teamed up with Nvidia and Google Cloud to make designing chips and training robots way smarter — and possibly self-aware.

With Nvidia, Cadence is mixing AI + physics so engineers can test how robots, chips, and data centers behave before they melt, snap, or explode. It’s like a digital crash test, minus the cleanup.

On the Google side, Cadence launched an AI agent that designs chips on its own. Basically, AI is now building the hardware for more AI. Hope it doesn’t unionize.

Meanwhile, Nvidia dropped new quantum AI models named Ising, promising faster, more accurate qubit wrangling. Translation: the robots are learning physics, math, and patience.

2024: where even the chips are designing their own chips. 🧠💥
