Dr. ChatGPT Will See You Now (Please Don't Sue)

OpenAI shoved a Health feature into ChatGPT. You can now plug in your Apple Health data, lab results, and medical records, then ask the chatbot why you feel terrible — all from the same window where you ask it to write your resignation letter.
Previously, OpenAI built a special "Health Room" for this. Nobody used it. People asked about their labs while meal-planning lasagna. So now health context bleeds into every chat, like an overbearing aunt at Thanksgiving.
Testers say it's great at translating doctor-speak ("you have hyperlipidemia" → "your cholesterol is auditioning for a coronary"). One nurse even discovered a mystery entry in her own chart — turns out AI is better at finding weird stuff in your records than the people who put it there.
OpenAI swears your health data won't train the model or target ads. Disconnect a source and it's gone in 30 days, though anything already in your chat history sticks around like a bad tattoo. The company also reminds users that synced records can be stale — that medication listed? You stopped taking it in 2023. Don't trust the sync; trust your pharmacist.
The whole thing is positioned as "support, not diagnosis," which is corporate for "please don't sue us when Dr. ChatGPT suggests your chest pain is anxiety."
It's live now for US users 18+ on web and iOS. Go connect your Fitbit and find out what AI really thinks of your step count.

AMD Throws $5 Billion at Anthropic Because Asking Politely Didn't Work

AMD just agreed to shovel up to $5 billion into Anthropic, which is a polite way of saying "please use our chips instead of Nvidia's." In exchange, Anthropic will deploy up to two gigawatts of AMD's Instinct MI450 accelerators — roughly the power draw of a small European country — starting in 2027.
This follows AMD's now-familiar playbook: hand a giant AI company money or warrants, get a giant hardware order back. OpenAI got 10% worth of warrants tied to six gigawatts. Meta got performance-based warrants for another six. Anthropic gets a direct equity stake. AMD is essentially running a buy-ten-get-one-free promotion, except the "free" is billions in stock and the "ten" is tens of gigawatts of compute.
Anthropic, for its part, is hoarding compute like a doomsday prepper. It's got Nvidia GPUs at SpaceX's Colossus facility, a million-plus Amazon Trainium2 processors, Google TPUs on the way, and now AMD Helios systems. Tom Brown — yes, the GPT-3 guy — says it's about "mapping the right workloads to the right hardware," which is engineer-speak for "we'll take compute from anyone willing to sell it."
The deal also includes a multi-year engineering program where Anthropic helps tune Claude to run on AMD's ROCm software, the perpetually aspirational alternative to Nvidia's CUDA. AMD will also deploy Claude internally across its engineering teams — so the AI Anthropic builds will now help build the chips Anthropic runs on. The circle of life, but with semiconductors.
Lisa Su called it "gigawatt scale," which sounds impressive until you learn AMD execs estimate one gigawatt of AI infrastructure costs "tens of billions." So Anthropic's two-gigawatt commitment is either a massive bet on the future of Claude or a very expensive way to heat Tennessee.
AMD shares rose 2.4% on the news and have more than doubled this year. The market, apparently, is fine with a chipmaker becoming a venture fund with a side hustle in silicon.
